City Council Minutes - May 24, 1982
A special meeting of the Chanhassen City Council was called to
order at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 1982, by Mayor Hamilton.
The meeting was held at Chanhassen Fire Station No.1. The
following members were present: Mayor Hamilton, Councilmembers
Neveaux, Swenson, Geving and Horn.
CHANHASSEN FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION - JOINT MEETING WITH THE
CITY-COUNCIL-AND-YOLUNTEER-FIRE-DEPARTMENT:--M;;b;rs-~f the
Ch;nh;ssen-Vol~nteer-Flre-Dept~ presented-the Actuarial Report
for the Fire Relief Association dated April 15, 1982 and as
prepared by the Wyatt Company. Various questions were raised
in regards to costs associated with each of the benefit
increases as shown in the Wyatt Report as well as priorities
placed on each of these by the Fire Dept. As this meeting
represented a work session, no action was taken by the City
Council. However, the firemen would review the overall benefit
changes being requested and attempt to prioritize them.
Additionally, the City Council generally agreed to consider a
response in advance of the 1983 budgetary process.
SET ELECTION PRECINCTS: The Election Clerk, Jean Meuwissen,
;;s present-t~-dIs~~ss-proposed changes in polling places as
shown in her memorandum of May 19, 1982. After consideration,
Councilman Neveaux moved, that Resolution 82-32 be adopted
fixing the 1982 polling places within the City of Chanhassen,
such being as follows:
I Precinct 1 and Hennepin County Precinct - Chanhassen
Elementary School
Precinct 2 - Minnewashta Fire Station No. 2
Precinct 3 - Chanhassen City Hall
Precinct 4 - Fire Station No. 1

Motion seconded by Councilwoman Swenson. The following voted
in favor: Mayor Hamilton, Councilmembers Neveaux, Swenson,
Horn and Geving. No negative votes. Motion carried.
~~!~~ The above meeting was adjourned and officially reopened
after moving from the Chanhassen Fire Station to City Hall.
The motion to adjourn the meeting at the fire station and
reconvene at the City Hall was made by Councilman Horn,
seconded by Councilman Geving. The following voted in favor:
Mayor Hamilton, Councilmembers Neveaux, Swenson, Horn and
Geving.

CITY-COUNCIL-AND-YOLUNTEER-FIRE-DEPARTMENT:--The-City-Co~n~il

having this item reappear before the City Council. The Manager
noted that he had received a proposal from DeLaHunt Voto and
Company, the City's consulting auditors, to prepare a full
review and critique of the benefits proposed by the Chanhassen
Fire Relief Association at a cost not to exceed $1,500.

generally discussed the necessity to assure that any changes ~n
benefit levels were fully funded and that the city had strong
financial advice prior to making any type of change.

Councilman Geving moved that the City Manager be authorized to
contract with the City IS auditors, DeLaHunt Voto and Company,
for an amount not to exceed $1,500, to complete a review and
make recommendations in regards to the proposed changes
requested by the Chanhassen Fire Relief Association.
Additionally, that the contract cost would be an amendment to
the 1982 budget and be authorized as a budgertary amendment
within the Administrative Trust Fund. Motion seconded by
Councilman Horn. The following voted in favor: Mayor
Hamilton, Councilmembers Neveaux, Geving, Swenson and Horn.
A motion was made by Councilman Geving and seconded by
Councilman Neveaux to adjourn the meeting. The following voted
in favor thereof: Mayor Hamilton, Councilmembers Neveaux,
Swenson, Geving and Horn. No negative votes. Motion carried.
