Attached is a scoring sheet for your use. emUF CllWlASD City of Chanhassen Notice of Commission Vacancies The City of Chanhassen is seeking applications from interested persons to fill vacancies on the Planning Commission, Park & Recreation Commission, Environmental Commission, and Senior Commission. Terms are for three (3) years unless otherwise noted. No prior experience is required and interested residents are encouraged to apply. If you need additional information, call 952-227-1100. Applications will be accepted through Friday, February 25, 2005. Planning Commission: The Planning Commission is an advisory body to the City Council that makes recommendations to the City Council on all new developments, including site plans, subdivisions, special use permits, land use, and zoning regulations. The Commission also provides input into plans and programs that will have a long term impact on the community, e.g. the Comprehensive Plan, the Bluff Creek Overlay District, the Highway 5 Corridor Study, etc. The Planning Commission meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Two positions are available on the Commission. Park & Recreation Commission: The Park & Recreation Commission acts as an advisory board to the City Council, reviewing all recreation, leisure, and park-related issues. These issues include park development and implementation of the Recreation Section ofthe City's Comprehensive Plan. The commission meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Three positions are available on this Commission. Environmental Commission: The Environmental Commission acts as a citizen outreach and education board for the City Council. Issues addressed by the Commission include water quality, forestry, recycling, solid waste, and natural resources education, The Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. There are two positions available on this Commission. Senior Commission: The Senior Commission is an advisory body to the City Council that represents the interests of Chanhassen senior citizens. They review issues such as housing, information and referral services, transportation, senior center operations, etc. The Senior Commission meets at 10:00 a,m. on the third Friday of every other month at City Hall. Commissioners Glenn Stolar and Paula Atkins have served one three-year term each, Commissioner Steve Scharfenberg has served out the remaining year of a three-year term vacated by former Chairperson Rod Franks. Commissioner Stolar is currently serving as Chairperson. All three incumbent members are seeking reappointment to the Commission. City resolution 95-34A requires that Commissions interview all new applicants and recommend their selection for vacancies plus two additional candidates.
