REGULAR CHANHASSEN CITY"COUl'JCIL MEETING FEBRUARY 6,1978
Mayor Hobbs called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the following
fleobers present: Councilmen Geving and Neveaux. Councilman Waritz
8a~e late. Councilman Pearson was absent. The meeting was opened
with the Pledge to the Flag.
p..PPROVAL OF AGENDA: Councilman Geving moved to approve the agenda

Reconsider February 20 agenda date. Motion seconded by Councilman Neveaux.

MINUTES: Councilman Geving moved to approve the minutes of the January
23, 1978, Special Council meeting. Motion seconded by Councilman Neveaux.

No negative votes. Motion carried.
Councilman Neveaux moved to note the January 25, 1978, Planning
Coomission minutes. Motion seconded by Councilman Geving. The following
voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen Geving and Neveaux. No
negative votes. Motion carried.
Councilman Geving moved to note the January 10~ 1978, Park and Recreation
Comalssion minutes. Motion seconded by Councilman Neveaux. The following
voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz.
No negative votes. Notion carried.
PID - LAKE SUSAN HILLS: The city Engineer explained the feasibility
study for sewer, water, streets, storm sewer and curb and gutter. Total
estimated cost of the project is $2,644.300.00. Rod Hardy, Julius
Soith, and Don Schmieg were present. The area under consideration is
generally bounded by State Highway 5, County Road 17, State Highway 101,
and Lake Susan.

RESOLUTION #78-06: Councilman Neveaux moved the adoption of a resolution
accepting the feasibility study for Lake Susan Hills and ordering a
public hearing for March 14, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. Resolution seconded
by Councilman Waritz. The following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs,
Councilmen Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative votes. Motion
carried.
INVESTMENT PROCEDURES - FIRE DEPARTMENT: Councilman Neveaux moved to
accept the City Manager's recommendation of February 6, 1978, allowing
the fire department to make investments as presented in their letter
dated January 31, 1978, deleting authorization of investments in
corporate securities and Minnesota State Board of Investments unless
svecifically authorized by the City Council. Any investments made by
the fire department must be approved by the City Manager. Motion
seconded by Councilman Geving. The following voted in favor: Mayor
Hobbs, Councilmen Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative votes.
Motion carried.

FTVE YEAR CAPITAL BUDGET - PARK AND RECREATION: Joe Betz was
present.
RESOLUTION #78-07: Councilman Neveaux floved the adoption of a
resolution accepting the five year capital budget from t~e Park
and Recreation Commission. Resolution seconded by Councllman
Waritz. The following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, .council~en
Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative votes. Motlon carrled.
PARK DEDICATION ORDINANCE - HANSEN AND KLINGELHUTZ: Councilman
Geving moved to instruct the City Attorney to prepare an opinion
on Saratoga Lane and Santa Vera by the next Council meeting. Motion
seconded by Councilman Neveaux. The following voted in favor:
Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative
votes. Motion carried.
1978 REFERENDUM ISSUES:
RESOLUTION #78-08: Councilman Neveaux moved the adoption of a
resolution designating the polling places and hours for voting and
the election judges and counters for the Special Referendum Election
March 7, 1978. Resolution seconded by Councilman Geving. The
following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen Geving, Neveaux,
and Waritz. No negative votes. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION #78-09: Councilman Geving moved the adoption of a
resolution setting the date to canvas election returns for March
8, 1978, at 6:30 p.m. Resolution seconded by Councilman Neveaux.
The following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen Geving,
Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative votes. Motion carried.
Councilman Geving moved to set the salary for election judges and
counters for the March 7, 1978, Special Referendum at $3.00 an
hour and the election chairman at $3.50 an hour. Motion seconded
by Councilman Waritz. The following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs,
Councilmen Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative votes. Motion
carried.
POST OFFICE: Mayor Hobbs read a letter he will be sending to the
Chanhassen Postmaster regarding Chanhassen mailing addresses.
RESCHEDULE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING: Councilman Neveaux moved that
due to a holiday February 20, 1978, the Council meeting will be held
February 21, 1978. Motion seconded by Councilman Geving. The
following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen Geving, Neveaux,
and Waritz. No negative votes. Motion carried.
Councilman Geving moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by Councilman
Neveaux. The following voted in favor: Mayor Hobbs, Councilmen
Geving, Neveaux, and Waritz. No negative votes. Meeting adjourned
at 9:45 p.m.
