Public Safety Department
. The second annual Safety Camp
had 75 fifth graders spend the day at
Lake Susan learning about a variety
of topics including: fire safety, water
safety, personal safety, respect, drug
awareness, and bicycle safety.
Crime Prevention Specialist Beth
Hoiseth did her usual fantastic job
setting it all up and had participation
by the Carver County Sheriff's
Dept., Hennepin County Sheriff's
Water Patrol, Minnesota State
Patrol, NSP, and the National Guard.
· Our joint bicycle patrol with
Officer Kerri Nolden and a Carver
County Deputy has been going great
and resulted in a significant drug
arrest recently at Lake Ann Park.
Finance Department
· First certification letters for delin-
quent utility accounts in District I
were mailed today (Wednesday).
· 1997 Tax Increment Financing
Reporting Forms have not yet been
mailed to the Office of the State
Auditor. I am waiting for information
from the Carver County Auditor to
complete.
Planning Department
. Kate Aanenson and Bob Generous
presented our Comprehensive Plan
to the County Board on Tuesday
morning.
Public WorkslEngineering
. Work has begun by city crews
on the bike path/vehicle turn-
arounds associated with the Trunk
Highway 7 access closures at Fir
Tree and Cypress Avenues.
. Work has begun by the Street
Maintenance Department on
converting the red signal indicator
on the Trunk Highway 5 signals to
the new energy efficient LED
displays. This is a NSP energy
funded program.
Park & Recreation Department
· Construction at Bandimere and City
Center Parks is falling behind sched-
ule. Extended periods of wet condi-
tions is the cause of delays.
· The 1998 Trail construction project
is also behind schedule. Midwest did
not work the last 11 days due to rain
and wet conditions.
· Clearing and grubbing commenced
on the Doug Hansen property acqui-
sition today.
· Susan Merak, Facility Supervisor
has been promoted to the position of
Interim Recreation Center Coordina-
tor effective August 10. She will be
fulfilling the duties formerly completed
by Patty Dexter.
