SUBJ:
Agenda for City Council Work Session, Monday, April 17, 2000
These are my thoughts on the issues before you on April 17, 2000.
1. School District 112 Facility Ad Hoc Committee: Todd and Jerry will be
present to speak to the School District 112 Facility Ad Hoc Committee. If
you recall, I had included in your correspondence packet some material
from this group. This correspondence has been less than fully complete
and, frankly, since I've started here, I am not fully aware of the relationship
between the City and this Ad Hoc Committee. A number of you have
indicated that you are not familiar with this relationship either, and to that
end I asked Jerry and Todd to come so they can explain it to us.
2. Discussion of Library Process: I will include a separate memo on this
issue with this packet. Suffice it to say that Betsy Chase, the Library
Director, and potentially Ursula Dimler, Chair of the Carver County
Commissioners will be present at our work session to discuss with us the
process from here on out.
3. Lake Lucy Water Reservoir Repainting: I also will attach a separate
memo about this issue. However, be advised that Jerry Boucher and I will
both be present to discuss with you the options we face in dealing with the
repainting and interior restoration on this reservoir.
4. U of M Global Positioning System Presentation: Please find enclosed
correspondence from the University of Minnesota concerning this issue.
Mr. Shankwitz, Program Director, Intelligent Vehicles Lab, will be present
to make his presentation to you. I have sent letters to some ofthe neighbors
advising them of this issue.
5. Metricom Right-of-Way Discussion: Mr. Max Thompson of Metricom
will be present to discuss the technology and his request before you. If you
recall, last fall we had a brief discussion at a work session about this
proposal and the fact that it was coming down the pike. It's here now and
Mr. Thompson will be available to address his proposal with you.

6. Report on School District 1J2 School Siting: Todd and I will report on
our interaction with representatives of District 112 since last Monday. This
report, in all probability, will be verbal as we are meeting throughout the
balance of the week.
Thank you.
