Botcher, City Manager S 1\>'3 April 13, 2000 FROM: DATE: SUBJ: Metricom Proposal of April I? , 2000 You will find enclosed in your packet a submittal from Mr. Max Thompson of Metricom proposing to install a wireless Internet system within the City of Chanhassen. While Mr. Thompson's correspondence seems to infer that City staffhas been pursuing him so as to bring this technology to the City, rest assured that Mr. Thompson is making this submittal on behalf of Metricom purely of his own volition and without any encouragement or solicitation on behalf of the City or City staff. Given my understanding of the submittal at this point, I have yet to find any major concerns regarding Mr. Thompson's proposal. This is not to say that the lease proposal that he has made to us is necessarily acceptable. My thought is that if you find this basic concept to be acceptable, I can forward Mr. Thompson's proposal to Mr. Knutson for his review and recommendation as we have done with other communication providers. Again, this evening is your opportunity to have a full and frank discussion with Mr. Thompson regarding his proposal. I do have the Power Point presentation, which is included in your packet, in its electronic form on my computer.
