2000 MINNESOTA ENERGY CODE
· EFFECTIVE DATE: April 15, 2000
· INTENT: Eliminate moisture and air quality problems in new homes
· HISTORY: Code development began in 1991
· NEW REQUIREMENTS
I. Mechanical ventilation
2. Interior air barrier
3. Emphasis on power vented appliances
4. More efficient windows & doors
· PLAN REVIEW & INSPECTION CHANGES:
I. Mechanical plan review required on I & 2 family homes
2. More inspections?
· COST: Builders Association estimates it will add $3,000-10,000 to the cost of all
new homes.
· PROBLEMS:
