SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING TO CANVASS THE CITY ELECTION NOVEMBER 4, 1976
Mayor Klingelhutz called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. with the
following members present: Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Kurvers, and
Waritz.
RESOLUTION #76-90:~ Councilman Kurvers moved the adoption of the
following resolution:
WHEREAS the Bicentennial City Election was duly held on Tûesday,
November 2, 1976, for the election of the Mayor for a term ending on
the first business day of January 1979 and for two Councilmen for
terms ending on the first business day of January 1981, and
WHEREAS said election was also for a decision on the question of
whether Option Plan B providing for the Council-Manager form of city
government be adopted.for the government of the city, and
WHEREAS the City Council of Chanhassen has this date duly met as the
City Canvassing Board to declare the results of the election returns
made by the Election Judges. Said results are listed on the attached
Exhibit A.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council sitting as the
City Canvassing Board hereby declares the results of the Bicentennial
City Election for the year 1976 as follows:
1. For the position of Mayor - Walter B. Hobbs.
2. For the position of Councilman - R. W. (Dick) Pearson.
3. For the position of Councilman - Dale W. Geving.
4. For the Option Plan B question, in the affirmative 1483 votes for
Option Plan B, 1092 votes against Option Plan Hi Option Plan B
being thereby adopted.
Resolution seconded by Councilman Neveaux. The following voted in
favor: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Kurvers, and
Waritz. No negative votes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Hobbs and seconded by Councilman
Neveaux commending Jean Meuwissen as Chairman of the Election and all
of the election Judges and Counters. The following voted in favor:
Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Kurvers, and Waritz.
No negative votes. Motion carried.
A motion was made
Hobbs to adjourn.
