1975 10 11 I I I S~ECI~ CHANHASSEN CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 11, 1975 Mayor Klingelhutz called the budget meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with the following members present: Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Shulstad, and Kurvers. The City Treasurer was present. The Treasurer and City Accountant have agreed that $25,000 could be transferred out of the cash reserve fund. The Council would like to discuss the sweeper with the Maintenance Superintendent. In order for the mill rate to remain about the same as 1975 and assuming $19,000 per mill the 1976 budtet cannot exceed approximately $270,000. The City has been unable to get the total assessed valuation from the county at this time. The city employees would like to meet with the Council Committee to discuss salary proposals for 1976. The Council would like a spread sheet on all city employees salaries also copies of the Metro Salary Survey. It was decided to have daily log sheets in the city car and anyone using the car will fill it out in order to determine what departments use the car for the 1977 budget. The Sign Committee is asking for $5,000 for 1976 for a comprehensive notational graphics program. Some of this money will be used to design and build signs and would be assessed to businesses using the signs. 101-407, Planning and Zoning. The Planner prepared a report on this proposed budget as requested by the Council. He is asking for a 16% salary increase for 1976. Councilman Shulstad stated that before he could make a decision on the Planner's salary he would want to look at all the salary structures. Mayor Klingelhutz stated he felt the Council would have to stay somewhere within the 10% range for everyone. ADMINISTRATOR: A motion was made by Councilman Shulstad and seconded by Councilman Neveaux to approve payment to Jerry Schlenk in the amount of $20.00 for the towing and impounding fees on the city car by Eaton's Towing Service. The following voted in favor: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Shulstad, and Kurvers. No negative votes. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded by Councilman Neveaux to pay Bruce Pankonin mileage for picking up the city car 50 miles at l5¢. The following voted in favor: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Shulstad, and Kurvers. No negative votes. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Hobbs and seconded by Councilman Neveaux that the Council instruct the Mayor to see the Administrator at the earliest possible convenience and ask him to resign effective immediately with two weeks severance pay. The following voted in favor: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Shulstad, and Kurvers. No negative votes. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Hobbs and seconded by Councilman Kurvers that effective upon the resignation of the present City Administrator that the Council appoint Jerry ßchlenk as inter~m Special City Council Meeting October 11, 1975 -2- City Administrator. The following voted in favor: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Hobbs, Neveaux, Shulstad, and Kurvers. No negative votes. Motion carried. I The City Planner stated he felt the whole city staff would help the Acting City Administrator during this time. A motion was made by Councilman Hobbs and seconded by Councilman Shulstad to adjourn.
