CaA~HASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MINUTES - April 27,1970
The Special Chanhassen Village Council meeting was held on
April 27, 1970 at 8:00 p.m. in the Village Hall. It was
decided to dispense with all formalities. The following
members were present: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz,
Pearson and Bennyhoff. Councilman Hill was absent.
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION: Park and Recreation members
present were: Sally deLancey, Conrad, Fiskness, Arnold
Weimerskirch, Robert Fayfield and Steve Wolf.
The Mayor opened the meeting by stating he felt that we should
set up an Environmental Commission with a Chairman and
three Sub-Chairmen, one each for air, land and water. A general
discussion was held on the pollution problem and the
Enviromental Ordinance that was submitted to the Park and
Recreation Council Committee last year.
A number of sites were discussed for a Tots-Lots. The Village
Hall site was sicussed as a possible interim site. Chairman
Steve Wolf explained in detail the major Park Site, explaining
how this could be done in phases.
PLANNING COMMISSION: Planning Commission members present were:
Robert Scholer, Dean Scheff, John Neveaux, Anne Neils,
Nicholas Waritz, Arnold Ryba and Tom Gabbert.
After much discussion on the new proposed Zoning Ordinance that
has been given rough draft approval and turned over to the
Village Attorney to put in legal form and should be given top
priority, it was the feeling of the Council that they would
ask the Village Attorney, at the next meeting, when this
Zoning Ordinance would be available and would impress upon
him how important it is to complete this Ordinance.
There was a general discussion on the transportation study that
will be started after the April 30, 1970, hearing by the Highway
Department on the Corridor System - Highways 212, 169 and 41.
One member should be appointed from each of the Planning Commission
and the Park and Recreation Commission to the Riley - Purgatory
Creek Watershed District. Representation appointments to be
made by the Commission's themselves.
A motion was made by Councilman Klingélhutz and seconded by
Councilman Bennyhoff to adjourn. The following voted in favor
thereof: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz, Pearson and
Bennyhoff. No negative votes. Motion carried.
