CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL" MINUTES.;.;. November 9, 1970
The special Chanhassen Village Council meeting on November 9, 1970,
at 7:30 p.m. was opened. with the Pledge to the Flag. The following
members were present: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Neils and Pearson.
Councilman Bennyhoff was absent. Councilman Klingelhutz arrived
late.
A motion was made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman
Neils to amend the Agenda to allow some teenagers to appear before
the Council as the first item. The following voted in favor there-
of: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Neils and Pearson. No negative votes.
Motion carried.
COUNCIL MINUTES: A motion was made by Councilman Pearson and
seconded by Councilman Neils to approve the November 2, 1970,
and the November 5, 1970, Council minutes. The following voted
in favor thereof: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Neils and Pearson.
No negative votes. Motion carried.
YOUTH SEMINAR: The following ten teenagers were present explaining,
~the Council, what they would like to see the Village do for the
the teenagers.

Councilman Klingelhutz arri~ed¿during this discussion.
JAYCEE'S (TEENAGE DANCE): A report was given by the Jaycees on
the dances that have been held at the Chanhassen Elementary School.
The average age attending are teens between 14 and 17.
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION: Park and Recreation Commission
Chairman Steve Wolf, explained the miscellaneous costs involved in
moving in a 14' x 20' garage to be used as a warming house. The
cost of the building and moving it to the site is $400.00. The
approximate cost of material for the floor is $146.00. The approx-
imate cost for the electrical hookup is $150.00. No exact prices
were available on a furnace hookup.
A motion was made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by
Councilman Pearson to purchase the 14' x20' garage, to be used as a
warming house, and authorize the necessary improvements. Also two
satalites at a monthly cost of $31.50 each. The following voted
in favor thereof: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz, Neils and
Pearson. No negative votes.-Motion carried.
All the above costs to be taken from the Park and Recreation
Commission Budget.

LAKE ANN PARK~ Park and Recreation Commission Chairman,
Steve WolT;-requested that the Council set up preliminary
negotiations with the Lake Ann Development Corporation for
the purchase of property on Lake Ann as a future park site.

A motion was made by councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman
Neils to authorize the Village Attorney to set up preliminary
negotiations with the Lake Ann Development Corporation and report
back to the Council. The following voted in favor thereof:
Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz, Neils and Pearson. No
negative votes. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE #9 (SHOOTING ORDINANCE): Mr. Wolf explained what the
Park and REcreatron-Commission~ad discussed at their last meeting
stating that a more comprehensive study should be made of the
Village before any amendments be made to Ordinance #9. The Park
and Recreation Commission, however, are in full accord with the
restriction of no shooting north of Highway #5.
YOU11H SEMINAR: There was a general discussion on the Youth
Sèmlnar.
A motion was made by Councilman Neils and seconded by Councilman
Klingelhutz to set up a meeting on Sunday, November 15, 1970, in I
the Chanhassen Elementary School for the youth only, as a rap
session. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Coulter,
Councilmen Klingelhutz, Neils and Pearson. No negative votes.
Motion carried.
SOLID WASTEt There was a general discussion on Village wide
garbage colTection service. The Administrator will research this
problem further and submit a report back to the Council at a later
date.
A motion was made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman
Neils to adjourn. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor
Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz, Neils and Pearson. No negative
votes. Motion carried.
