CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MINUTES - January 29, 1971
The special Chanhassen Village Council meeting was held on
January 29, 1971, in the Chanhassen Village Hall. It was
decided to dispense with all formalities. The following mem-
bers were present: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz and
Wolf. Councilmen Bennyhoff and Neils were absent.
A motion was made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by
Councilman Wolf that the following Resolution #12971-1 be
adopted:
SHOREWOOD - CHANHASSEN JOINT SANITARY SEWER FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Sewer Board has submitted
to Chanhassen for its approval and execution a proposed agree-
ment between said Board, Shorewood and Chanhassen relating to
the construction and cost allocation of Shorewood-Chanhassen
joint sanitary sewer facilities, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of Chanhassen that
the proposed joint sanitary sewer facilities be constructed as
contemplated by said agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:
1. The proposed agreement be, and hereby is,
approved.
2. The Mayor and Village Clerk be, and hereby
are, authorized and instructed to execute
said agreement on behalf of the Village of
Chanhassen.
3. The Village Clerk, Engineer and Attorney be,
and hereby are, instructed to negotiate with
Shorewood the matter of the Shorewood-Chan-
hassen cost sharing as contemplated by Section
3.03 of said agreement.
4. The Village Clerk, Engineer and Attorney pre-.
pare and submit to the Metropolitan Council,
either separately or in cooperation with Shore-
wood, a petition for variance seeking a deter-
mination that the Shorewood-Chanhassen joint
sanitary sewer facilities are metropolitan
interceptors needed for the metropolitan dis-
posal system.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the Village of Chanhassen this
29th day of January, 1971.

The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Coulter, Council-
men Klingelhutz and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
The minutes should reflect that Councilmen Bennyhoff and Neils
had contacted the Administrator, by phone, before the meeting,
stating that they were in agreement with the proposed Resolution.
The Administrator is hereby instructed to request a variance
from the Metropolitan Council for the sewer trunk extensions
from Shorewood Interceptor #2 which would serve the areas
designated by the Metropolitan Council as A, Band C.
A motion was made by Councilman Wolf and seconded by Council-
man Klingelhutz to adjourn. The following voted in favor there-
of: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Klingelhutz and Wolf. No negative
votes. Motion carried.
