CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MINUTES - August 9, 1971
The regular Chanhassen Village Council Meeting was opened with
the Pledge to the Flag. The following members were present:
Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Klingelhutz and Neils.
Councilman Wolf was absent.
COUNCIL MINUTES: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and
seconded by Councilman Neils to approve the Council Minutes of
August 2, 1971. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor
Coulter, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Klingelhutz and Neils. No nega-
tive votes. Motion carried.
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES: A motion was made by
Councilman Neils and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that the
Park and Recreation Commission Minutes of August 3, 1971, be
noted and read. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor
Coulter, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Klingelhutz, and Neils. No
negative votes. Motion carried.
DUST COMPLAINT: Mr. Ewe and Mr. Ware were present to register a
complaint on the commercial traffic on Teton which is creating
a dust problem. Mr. Ware was instructed to present more facts
to the Village Attorney before any action is taken.
D. J. EXCAVATING: Mr. Ware stated that his second concern is
the use of the property owned by Mr. Schimmelpfemnig. It was
his understanding that Mr. Schimmelpfemnig was given 45 days from 4-5-71,
to cease doing business on his property and remove his excavating
equipment. Mr. Ware stated that there still appears to be a
considerable amount of traffic on the Schimmelpfemnig property.
Mr. Schimmelpfemnig stated that the only time he is bringing any
of his equipment on the property is when major repairs are needed
and must be done in a covered area.
It was the general feeling that Mr. Schimmelpfemnig should meet
with the Industrial Commission as soon as possible.
ASSESSING: Bill Warner (appraiser) explained how he would do the
assessing and what the costs would be per parcel. There was
general discussion, by the Council, and no action was taken.
HENNEPIN COUNTY LEAGUE: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff
that the Village join the Hennepin County League. After discussion
Councilman Bennyhoff withdrew his motion.
RILEY-PURGA~ORY CREEK WATERSHED DISTRICT: Councilman Neils gave
a report on the special meeting that was held on August 5, 1971,
on the duties and responsibilities of the watershed district and
the work that has been accomplished to date.

LAKE ANN SEWER INTERCEPTOR: Mayor Coulter gave a report on I
the Metropolitan Council Referral Committee's Meeting held . ..
on August 5, 1971. The recommendation was as follows:
RECOMMENDATION: The Lake Ann Interceptor as proposed in
the Village of Chanhassen Comprehensive Trunk Sewer Report,
dated May, 1971, be accepted in concept as a substitute for
the proposed Bluff Creek Interceptor, as a part of the
Metropolitan Council Interceptor system and that the portion
from the Rice Marsh Lake lift station to Trunk Highway 101
be included as a part of the 1971 Capital Improvement Program,
with final construction plans to be approved when completed.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Mr. Hoffman was present to explain the
Financial Report in detail.
TRAFFIC SIGN: A motion was made by Councilman Klingelhutz and
seconded by Councilman Neils to approve the installation of a
dead end sign at the intersection of Nez Perce and Glendale.
The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Coulter, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Klingelhutz and Neils. No negative votes. Motinn
carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by
Councilman Neils to adjourn. The following voted in favor thereof: I
Mayor Coulter, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Klingelhutz and Neils. No
negative votes. Motion carried.
