CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MINUXES ~ ð~~~ 24, ~972
~he special Chanhassen Village Council meeting on July 24, 1972,
at 8:00 p.m. was opened with the Pledge to the Flag. The
following members were present: Mayor Klingèlhutz, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf.
COUNCIL MINUTES: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and
seconded by Councilman Kurvers to approve the minutes of the
July 17, 1972, Council Meeting wih the following amendments:
under Ordinance 49 and Ordinance #50 delete "and amended".
The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz,.Council-
men Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes.
Motion carried.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES: A motion was made by Councilman Neils
and seconded by Councilman Wolf that the minutes of the July 11, 1972,
Planning Commission Meeting be noted and read. The following voted
in faovr thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers,
Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.~,
A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Council-
man Kurvers that the minutes of the July 11, 1972, Planning
Commission Public Hearing be noted and read. The following voted
in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers,
Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
SEWER PROBLEM: Gerald Neher and Jerome Kerber were present
requesting Council action on their sewer back-up problem. Both
stated that they had incurred $150.00 in expenses for cleaning
and disinfecting their basements.
The Village Attorney will report back to the Council at the next
meeting with regard to our legal obligation. This will be on
the Agenda at 8:30 p.m. on August 7, 1972.

The Administrator read a letter from the VillageEngineer dated
July 21, 1972, recommending that the Council accept the low bid
of $556,602.00 from Nodland & Associates using PVC pipe. The
Engineer also recommends that the Village use the Flygt lift
~t~tion ~qm~in~ eq~i~ment.

PROJECT #7l-lC (contd): A motion was made by Councilman Neils I
and seconded by Councilman Wolf to accept the low bid of
$547,943.50 from Nodland & Associates of Alexandria, using
PVC pipe and Flygt lift station pumping equipment. The following
voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff,
Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
NORTH SERVICE AREA: A motion was made by Councilman Wolf and
seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that an appraisal be made on
the proposed well and tower sites. The following voted in
favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers,
Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
The Village Attorney gave a status report with regard to
easement acquisitions.
EASEMENTS: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded
by Councilman Neils that the Administrator, Mayor and Village
Attorney be authorized to sign letter agreements relating to
special easement conditions. The fOllowing voted in favor there-
of: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils
and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
CARVER BEACH: Mr. Stone was present to discuss the upcoming
Carver Beach Study. No action was taken by the Council. The
general feeling of the Council was that Mr. Stone should work
with the Planning Commission on the Carver Beach Study.

SOLID WASTE ORDINANCE: General discussion on the proposed Solid
Waste Ordinance.
A motion was made by Councilman Neils and seconded by Councilman
Bennyhoff to hold a Public Hearing on the Solid Waste Ordinance
on August 14, 1972, at 7:30 p.m., in the Village Hall. The
following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative ~otes. Motion
carried.
FEDERAL GRANTS: A mbtion was made by Councilman Neils and
seconded by Councilman Wolf that authorization be given to the
Administrator to hire the firm of Grant-In-Aid Consultants
and authorize expenses up to $500.00. The following voted in
favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers,
Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
NEW CAREERS PROGRAM: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff
and seconded by Councilman Wolf that the Administrator attend
the New Careers Conference in Mankato on August 2 and 3, 1972,
and the Village pay expenses of room, meals and mileage. The
following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Council- I
men Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes.

WEST SUBURBAN ~EEN CLINIC: A motion was made by Councilman Benny-
hoff and seconded by Councilman Neils to adopt the following
Resolution #72472l:
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE WEST SUBURBAN TEEN CLINIC
WHEREAS, the West Suburban Teen Clinic is being established
by volunteers at l5320 Minnetonka Boulevard to provide free
medical information to teenagers, and
WHEREAS, the Village Council deems that such a program fills
a needed community p . .pose, and that such program deserves
the support of all citizens of Chanhassen,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF CHANHASSEN:
That all citizens be and hereby are urged to support the
volunteer program of establishing and maintaining a West
Suburban Teen Clinic at 15320 Minnetonka Boulevard in the
City of Minnetonka in every possible way.
Adopted by the Village Council of the Village of Chanhassen
this 24th day of July, 1972.
