CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MINUTES - June 27, 1973

The special Chanhassen Village Council meeting was called to order on
June 27, 1973 at 8:00 p.m. in the Chanhassen Village Hall. The following
members were present: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers,
Neils and Wolf.
A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman
Wolf to dispense with all formalities. The following voted in favor
thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and
Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
DISCUSSION ON A NEW BUILDING INSPECTOR: A discussion was held on hiring
a new Building Inspector.
A motion was made by Councilman Wolf and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff
to have Jerry Schlenk contact neighborhood Villages to see if we can
find tempor~ry help on a part time baSS as a Building Inspector. The
following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff,
Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
ROSE LANE: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by
Councilman Neils to authorize the purchase of a paddlock with a key
different than other Village locks, to be used to chain off Rose Lane or
West 62nd Street. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz,
Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion
carried.
WARRANT FOR LAWN MOWER: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and
seconded by Councilman Kurvers to accept the corrected motion as follows:
COUNCILMAN BENNYHOFF MOVED THE ADOPTION OF THE FOLLOWING
RESOLUTION: BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE FOLLOWING BILL BE PAID
ON A WARRANT:
GENERAL FUND: EDWIN JOHNSON CORP. -- Lawn mower
in the amount of $1,995.00 Check #4958
RESOLUTION seconded by COUNCILMAN WOLF. The following voted in
favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Neils
and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
The folloWing voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
RAFT FOR LAKE ANN: A motion was made by Councilman Nefts and seconded by
Councilman Wolf to approve $14.29 for the purchase of a styrafoam raft
for Lake Ann. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz,
Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes.
Motion carried.
BUDGET: A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded by Councilman
Bennyhoff for all departments to have budgets in the Village by August 10,
1973. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.

LAKE SUSAN SEWER PROJECT 73-7: The Village Engineer explained his letter
dated June 27, 1973 on the present proposed plan of the Lake Susan Sewer
project. The following persons were present in regards to this project:
Mrs. Francis Klein, Mr. & Mrs. Terry Clark, Mrs. Karen Peterson, Walter E.
Paulson, Mrs. Olson, Bernice Ruediger, Russell Lawrence, Mr. & Mrs. Harly
Robinson and Keith Bartz. Discussion followed.

A motion was made by Councilman Wolf and seconded by Councilman Neils to
authorize the improvement of Lake Susan Sewer Project 73-7 as per Council
Exhibit A dated June 27, 1973. The following voted in favor thereof:
Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. Mayor Klingelhutz abstained
from voting. No negative votes. Motion carried.
Councilman Kurvers does not agree with the assessing policy.
A motion was made by Councilman Neils and seconded by Councilman Kurvers to
instruct the Village Engineer to prepare detailed plans and specifications
and call for bids on Project 73-7 Lake Susan Sanitary Sewer. The following
voted in favor thereof: Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf.
Mayor Klingelhutz abstained from voting. No negative votes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded by Councilman Wolf to
direct the Village Attorney to acquire the necessary easements for Project
73-7 Lake Susan Sanitary Sewer. The following voted in favor thereof:
Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. Mayor Klingelhutz abstained I.
from voting. No negative votes. Motion carried. .
PARKS: A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded by Councilman
Bennyhoff for the Village to post a No Parking Sign in front of the Emer-
gency entrance and a sign at the entrance of the Park saying No animals
allowed in Park and No Parking on Grass, Violaters will be Tagged. The
following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff,
Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
LAKE ANN BALL FIELDS: A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded
by Councilman Wolf that the Lake Ann Ball fields be reserved for the use of
Chanhassen residents or Chanhassen groups headquartered within the Village
and used only with a permit acquired from the Village Council. The following
voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers,
Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
LAKE ANN PHASE II: A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded by
Councilman Bennyhoff for Steve Wolf to work with Russ Larson on filling out
New Town HUD applications in cooperation with Jonathan. The following voted
in favor thereof: Mayor Klingihutz, Councilman Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils
and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
SEWAGE GRANT: A motion was made by Councilman Kurvers and seconded by
Councilman Wolf for the Village Attorney to resubmit the application for I
a Sewage Grant. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz,
Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Nelis and Wolf. No negative votes.
Motion carried.

RAILROAD CROSSING: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded
by Councilman Wolf to approve Resolution 627731 entitledc . .
Railroad Grade Crossing. The following voted in favor thereof:
Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No
negative votes. Motion carried.
BUESGENS BUILDING: The Village is to notify Robert Buesgens for additional
SAC charges on the proposed building.
METRO LEAGUE: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded
by Councilman Neils to pay $586.00 dues for membership in the Metropolitan
League of Municipalities. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor
Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative
votes. Motion carried.
HENNEPIN COUNTY LEAGUE~ A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and
seconded by Councilman Neils for the Village to notify the Hennepin County
League of Municipalities that we will not be rejoining and the reasons
why. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.

DUTCH ELM OAKWILT WORKSHOP: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and
seconded by Councilman Wolf to pay 4.00 registration fee for Dale Gregory
or Henry Wrase to attend the Dutch Elm Oakwilt Workshop on July 12, 1973.
The following voted in favorfuereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Benny-
hoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative votes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman Wolf
to adjourn the meeting. The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor
Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Kurvers, Neils and Wolf. No negative
votes. Motion carried.
