The special Chanhassen City Council meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m.
on January 28, 1974 by Mayor Klingelhutz, and was opened with the Pledge
to the Flag. The following members were present: Mayor Klingelhutz,
Councilmen Bennyhoff, Hobbs, Kurvers and Neveaux.
A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman
Neveaux to dispense with formalities. The following voted in favor thereof:
Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Hobbs, Kurvers and Neveaux.
No negative votes. Motion carried.
LAKE ANN PHASE II SANITARY SEWER INTERCEPTOR LINE: Jim Orr, City Engineer
explained the proposed plans of the Metro Sewer Board and costs that can
be expected for a developer that wants that proposed sewer. After a
lengthy discussion between the Council and the land owners and developers,
the Council stated they would be in favor of the sewer project if in
addition to the special assessment for the trunk sewer costs that the
land owners - developers served by the system establish a fund as security
for payment of the assessment.
Mr. Ed Dunn said he was impartial to the sewer line and was present only
as an interested land owner. Discussion followed.
PETITION FOR LOCAL IMPROVEMENT: (Frontier Development Park and Burdick
Park Addition: Mr. Charles Towle presented the City Council with a
petition for a 9 Ton street, curb and gutter and storm sewer at the
Strong- Towle, Renner, Molnau -Dubbe properties. Discussion follwed.
Mr. Burdick withdrew his petition for streets in the Burdick Park Addition
until a future date.
A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman
Hobbs to order a feasibility study for Street, curb and gutter and
storm sewer on the Strong - Towle, Renner Properties in the Frontier
Development Park, in view of the petition presented to the Council.
The following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen
Bennyhoff, Hobbs, Kurvers aNd Neveaux. No negative votes. Motion carried.
MUNICIPAL HOUSING REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY: A discussion was held in
regards to the needs for a Housing Authority.
A motion was made by Councilman Neveaux to begin steps to establish a
Municipal Housing Redevelopment Authority. The City Administrator stated
he would have information available at the next Council meeting. In
view of this information Councilman Hobbs withdrew his motion.
A motion was made by Councilman Neveaux and seconded by Councilman Hobbs
to direct the City Administrator to collect information in regards to the
HRA and make it available to%all Councilmen. The following voted in favor
thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Hobbs, Kurvers and
Neveaux. No negative votes. Motion carried.
POST OFFICE WATER MAIN: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and
seconded by Councilman Neveaux to extend a 6 inch watermain 300 feet
westerly down ChanView to the westerly parking lot of the proposed
Post Office Building and a fire hydrant at the corner of ChanView and
Laredo and in the event that the land develops west of the Post Office,

POST OFFICE, CON'T: this property will bear its portion of the cost of
the extension of this line. The following voted in favor thereof:
Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Hobbs, Kurvers and Neveaux.
No negative votes. Motion carried.
BLUFF CREEK: A motion was made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by
Councilmen Neveaux to allow Mr. Maynard Happe to proceed to prepare the
preliminary plat and that the administrator and the City's professional
staff will work with him to see that is done properly. The following
voted in favor thereof: Mayor Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Hobbs,
Kurvers and Neveaux. No negative votes. Motion carried.
CARVER COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY: Councilmen Hobbs will be the alternate
to the Carver County Public Safety.
A motion was made by Councilmen Bennyhoff and seconded
to adjourn the meeting. The following voted in favor
Klingelhutz, Councilmen Bennyhoff, Hobbs, Kurvers and
votes. Motion carried.
