MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor
City Council
FROM:
Scott A. Botcher, City Manager ~
DATE:
March 9, 2000
SUBJ:
Miscellaneous Agenda Items of March 13, 2000
As most of the items contain staff reports that are easy to understand and with
which I agree, I will offer comment on a tèw items of special interest to the
council.
lL - Approval of Southwest Metro Drug Task Force Joint Powers
Agreement: In the past, the city has chosen to be a participant in the Metro
Drug Task Force organization. I received a call earlier this week from a
representative of the Task Force indicating that all the parties in the Task Force
needed to adopt Joint Powers Agreements for calendar year 2000. That is what
is before you this evening. I have no reason not to recommend execution of the
Joint Powers Agreement.
1M-Approve Revised Organizational Chart dated 3-13-00: This
organizational chart is identical to the one previously approved except the
Assistant City Engineer position previously held by Anita Benson has been
removed. Please be advised that we will be discussing internally whether or not
to leave the Water Resources Coordinator position in the Community -
Development Department or move it to the Engineering Department. If you
have any thoughts on this, please forward them to me at your convenience.
8-Appeal of Trunk Hookup Charges by Chanhassen Properties, LLC for
Chanhassen Cinema: Earlier this week I received correspondence from Mr.
Copeland requesting removal of the appeal from the agenda. As such, the trunk
hookup charges will remain as previously established by the city. Obviously
Mr. Copeland maintains the right of appeal until that right expires.
9.S-Consideration of Southwest Metro Transit Joint Powers Agreement
Amendment: I held a discussion with Mr. Simmich regarding the proposed
amendment in your packet this evening. It appears that the focus of the
amendment is on the rider representative on the commission. Having just
received these, at first glance I see no reason not to approve the amendment. I
did by email ask Council member Jansen, our representative on the Southwest
, City of Chanhassen. A flOwinX community with dean lakes, quality schooM, a charminr downtown, thrivinr businesses, and beautiful parks. A veat plaC( to liV(, work, and Plax
