Approve Mileage Designations to the Municipal State Aid System
File Nos. PW-004 and PW-033
In conjunction with the City of Chanhassen's annual certification ofroad mileage
and needs study to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, State Aid Office,
it has been determined that the City has approximately 1.84 miles of available
State Aid road designation.
The following are recommended mileage designation additions to the Municipal
State Aid (MSA) system in Chanhassen:
1. Market Boulevard fÌ'om West 78th Street to Trunk Highway 5 - 0.39 miles
"improved".
2. Stoughton Avenue - Coordinate with the City ofChaska to designate - 0.25
miles.

All requests for additional mileage or revisions to the Municipal State Aid System
(MSAS) to be considered in the 2000 Needs Study and Apportionment must be
submitted to the District State Aid Engineer by March 1, 1999 along with a City
Council resolution by May 1, 1999. Staff has already submitted a request to
MnDot to designate these segments as MSA routes. MnDOT also requires a City
Council resolution adopting the new Municipal State Aid Streets. Therefore, it is
recommended that the City Council approve these designations to the City's MSA
system.

A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING MUNICIPAL STATE AID HIGHWAYS
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Chanhassen State Aid
Streets that the streets hereinafter described should be designated Municipal State Aid
Street under the provisions of Minnesota Law.
NOW, THEREFOREr BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Chanhassen that the road described as follows, to-wit:
1. Market Boulevard from West 7FJh Street to Trunk Highway 5.
2. Stoughton Avenue.
be, and hereby are established, located, and designated Municipal State Aid Streets of
said City, subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Transportation of the State of
Minnesota.
BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to forward two certified copies of this resolution to the Commissioner of Transportation for
his consideration, and that upon his approval of the designation of said roads or portion
thereof, that future improvement of same be constructed, and maintained as Municipal
State Aid Streets of the City of Chanhassen.
Passed and adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this 13th day of March,
2000.
