Since the project involves construction of a County road, the report has been reviewed with Mr. Roger Gustafson, Carver County Engineer. II Although the main impetus for the project has temporarily subsided, i.e. Lake Drive West/Redmond Products, the need to integrate these improvements with the Trunk Highway 5 I construction schedule still remains. This segment of Trunk Highway 5 i currently scheduled for a;March, 1991 letting. The report is based on -traffic projections received from the 1 Eastern Carver County transportation Study work and forecasts through the year 2010. The proposed roadway section is noted in figure 7 of the report. A divided roadway is proposed including II left-turn and right-turn lanes at the intersections to Park Road, Lake Drive and Lake Drive West. II Two alternates are shown' tin a eport„ due to,the uncertainty of the Lake Drive West project. , Alternate''''A;"which -i.s shown in figure 4, shows -carrying the road section through, !ike Drive and transitioning into the existing road section ear Riley Creek. I Alternate B carries the divided road:l ection -'through Lake Drive West and the intersection with Lake Susan Hills Drive. The recommendations of the report are, o proceed with the Alternate A concept, keeping in mind that it -And nd when Lake Drive West becomes a reality, Council could at that time entertain undertaking the Alternate B expansion of this project. The project is proposed to be funded through a combination of tax increment monies and assessments. The project schedule is also presented in the report showing construction of the project in 1991 consistent with MnDOT's schedule and ultimate completion of the project in the spring of 1992 with assessments in 1992. The total estimated project cost for Alternate -A is $1,059,300 and the total project cost for Alternate B is $1 ,737,900. Staff and representatives from BRW will be available to review in more detail the content of this report at Monday night's meeting. It is recommended that the attached feasibility study for County Road 17 Upgrade South of Trunk Highway 5 be accepted and a public hearing be called for July 23, 1990 .
