As I am sure Council is aware, staff has participated in the Trunk Highway 5 Technical Advisory Committee meetings over the last year providing ' input as appropriate to the design and plans which are presented here for approval. The 185-sheet plan set is available at City Hall for review but obviously was too unwieldly to include in the Council packets (select excerpts 1 enclosed). The project is scheduled for a July 27, 1990 letting and the State has requested that the City Council approve the plans and specifications and following 1 cooperative agreement prior to the letting date. As noted, these construction plans cover the Hennepin _County segment of the project which includes the full intersection including signalization at Dell Road and transitions back into the 1 existing two-lane section at Dakota Avenue. I am comfortable that the subject plans are consistent with the City Council's 1 desires on this project and concur with staff input as provided throughout the design process. It is therefore recannended that the construction plans and specifications for State Project Nos. 2701-34 (TH 5) and 1002-58 (TH 5) be approved. It is further recommended that the City Council resolve to require ' parking of all vehicles on said trunk highway to be parallel with the curb adjacent to the highway and at least 20 feet from any crosswalks and all public streets intersecting said trunk highway. 1 Representatives from Barton-Aschman will be attending Monday night's meeting to present the project and answer any questions. ktm Attachments: 1. F 014-3(41) It RESOLUTION At a meeting of the City Council of the City of Chanhassen, held on the day of II , 1990, the following Resolution was offered by , ; seconded by , , to wit: II WHEREAS the Commissioner of Transportation for the State of Minnesota has prepared: plans, special provisions, and specifications for the improvement of Trunk Highway No. II 121, renumbered as Trunk Highway No. 5, within the corporate limits of the City of Chanhassen, from 700 Ft. E. to 800 Ft. E. of Co. Rd. 17; and seeks the approval thereof; NOW, THEN, BE IT RESOLVED that said plans and special provisions for the improvement of said Trunk Highway within said corporate limits of the City, be and hereby are approved including the elevations and grades as shown and consent is hereby given to any and all changes in grade occasioned by said construction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City does hereby agree to require the parking of all vehicles, if such parking is permitted within the corporate limits of said City, on said Trunk Highway, to be parallel with the curb adjacent to the highway, and at least 20 feet from any crosswalks on all public streets intersecting said trunk highway.
