Mineral deposits have built up around the screen and need to be removed. The screen will be cleaned with a water -safe chemical solution which breaks down mineral deposits that clog the screen and clog the pores on the rock surface of the well. The screen will also be cleaned physically with a high - velocity jet and wire brush to remove any remaining debris. DOTES The project was awarded as follows: 'Alternates 1 and 2 were not awarded. The contract was awarded to Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc., and it included pump rehabilitation and televising Well #10. Also awarded was Alternate #3 to televise Well No. 10. The base bid amount was for necessary rehabilitation work at Well # 10. Award of bid was approved on the quotes for base bid plus alternate #3. Staff included an Alternate ( #1) in the bid request for cleaning the screen on Well #10. Alternate #1 was not awarded at the time of project approval because staff wanted to see the results of the well televising before moving forward with cleaning the screen. It was noted in the memorandum for project approval that Alternates #1 could be added to the project at a later time by change order. The project was competitively bid by two contractors who completed previous well work projects for the City of Chanhassen. For Alternate #1, Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc. bid $30,050.00 and E.H. Renner & Sons, Inc. bid $28,150.00. The bid price has increased due to the type of chemical recommended for screen cleaning based on the televising information. The quote alternate amount from Mark J. Traut Wells Inc. is for $34,050.00. Staff has reviewed these costs and finds them acceptable.
