A Resolution Approving Use of the Southwest Regional
Light Rail Transit Route as a Snowmobile Trail
Attached please find a permit application ITom Hennepin Parks for LRT Regional
Trail Corridor 2000/2001 Winter Use. The City ofChanhassen has passed a
resolution authorizing the use of snowmobiles on this route annually since 1994.
Along with the resolution, the city provides a certificate of insurance specifYing
Hennepin Parks as an additional named insured.
Last year there was some confusion over snowmobile complaints. I do not recall
any complaints being taken about the LRT Snowmobile Trail. There are,
however, a couple of "hot spots" that result in complaints on an annual basis.
One is along Audubon Road, south of Lyman Boulevard. The second is along
Highway 7 near the intersection of Minnewashta Parkway.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution permitting
the use of the Southern Regional Light Rail Transit route as a snowmobile trail for
the 2000/2001 snow season.
