1q. Change Order No. 3 for City Hall/Fire Station I C I T Y OF C BANHASSEN 690 COULTER DRIVE • P.O. BOX 147 • CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA 55317 (612) 937-1900 ' MEMORANDUM - TO: Don Ashworth, City Manager 2-‹PA-'41 ' FROM: Ji: ; e8: l Chffe, ubic Safety Director 40 t DATE: Mach G` u ' SUBJ: Approval of Change Order No. 3 , City Hall and Fire Station Expansions Please find attached roposed Change Order No. 3 for the Fire p g Station and City Hall. The major item for the Fire Station is ' the roofing on the old section. While working on the new roof, it was learned that potential leakage problems could occur on the old roof. In fact, the old Fire Station has had leakage problems ' in the past ncessitating repairs. The possibility of replacing the old section of roof was discussed at our weekly construction meetings. It was suggested by the architect and agreed to by Dale Gregory and myself that it would be cheaper in the long run to replace the old roof at the same time the new roof was being constructed. Therefore, the additional $7, 707. 00 represents an investment for the fire station and would warranty the entire roof with Firestone' s 10 year guarantee. The remaining costs represent minor adjustments that were found to be needed during demolition. As noted, the costs associated with the City Hall change include ' the library expansion and air conditioning for the Council Chambers . Recommendation Staff recommends approval of Change Order No. 3 for a total of $7, 337. 00 for the Fire Station and $5, 722. 00 for City Hall. Manager' s Comments : The budget for each of these accounts was initially established with a contingency account. The work is nearly complete on both structures and we have been very fortunate in not having significant contingencies to date. Approval of the ' change order is still less than the original contingency amount including all changes to date. 1-)if I I CHANHASSEN CITY HALL/CHANHASSEN FIRE STATION PROJECT NO: 87126/87146 A.
