Amendment to Chapter 15 Concerning Private Kennels
Attached you will find the amendment to Chapter 5 increasing the number of dogs
and cats required for a "private kennel." The current ordnance defines private
kennels as any place where more than (2) dogs or cats... The proposed
amendment calls for more than two (2) dogs; or combination offour (4) dogs or
cats (see attachment# 1).
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the ordinance amending Chapter 5 of the
Chanhassen City Code concerning Private Kennels as outlined in Attachment #1.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5
OF THE CHANHASSEN CITY CODE
CONCERNING PRIVATE KENNELS
TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN ORDAINS:
SF.CTTON 1 Section 5-16 of the Chanhassen City Code is amended by amending the
definition of "private kennel" to read:
Private kennel means any place where ei1he1::
. More than two (2) dogs; or
. A combination offour (4) dogs or cats
over six (6) months of age are kept or harbored, provided such animals are owned by the
owner or lessee of the premises on which they are kept or harbored.
SF.CTTON 2 This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
publication.
