Regarding: Community survey
We are all committed to improving the communication between the city
r and the community. Individually we have each tried to work closely gPs/g 7
with citizens to be sure their issues were clearly discussed. We have
each demonstrated that we are tireless campaigners. I think it is time
' for us to hit the campaign trail to acquire community imput rather than
votes. I have attached a survey that I think could help that process.
' As we begin the budgeting process it is particularily important that we
understand the priorities of the community. I have attached a
suggested survey that will increase our ability to develop a budget
that reflects the interests of the entire community.
Because surveys usually recieve a very low response rate, I suggest
that we consider distributing this survey in an non-traditional manner.
' I would like the council to target neighborhoods for personal delivery
of the survey by each of us. I see several advantages to this approach:
Ic would give each of us a chance to reinforce the importance . f their
survey response.
We would be committing to seeking voter contact without the burden of
also seeking their votes.
It would be an opportunity for us to demonstrate our ability to work as
a team.
I have field tested the survey with 20 households and recieved a sixty
percent response. I would like you to consider this idea and the
specific survey questions so that we could make a dicision about
whether to follow through on this idea at the next council meeting.
