SUBJ: Request to Extend Final Plat Deadline for the Roberta
' Buchheit 2nd Addition
On June 15 , 1987, the City Council approved the subdivision
' request for the Roberta Buchheit 2nd Addition (Attachment #1) .
The approved preliminary plat subdivided 1 .06 acres into two
single family lots (Attachment #2) . The applicant, Roberta
' Buchheit, has since sold the whole 1.06 acres to Gary Mecus . The
new owner of the property understood that the preliminiary plat
did not have to be filed until August of 1988, rather than by
June, 1988. The current owner has been trying to acquire prop-
!' erty to the north of the 1.06 acres (Lot 2 , Block 2 ) to permit it
to be resubdivided (Attachment #3 ) .
1 The applicant still wishes to pursue purchasing the property to
the north and to then resudivide the property with a different
lot configuration. The owner is requesting an extension to the
' final plat approval until he can resolve whether or not it is
possible to purchase the additional property and pursue a new
subdivision.
' RECOMMENDATION
' Staff recommends the City Council adopt the following motion:
"The City Council approves of a final plat extension for the pre-
liminary plat of Roberta Buchheit 2nd Addition until January 1,
1989 . "

Beach. This came up back about 1982 and it was a real problem and I have a

' I appreciate the committee taking the time to look into this
matter with the Buckheit property (Lot 1, Block 2 Cedar
Crest) . When my wife and I initially purchased this acre of
' land, we were told by Mrs . Buckheit we had until August to
have the lot platted for subdivision. I found this not to be
true when I contacted JoAnn Olsen in early August .
' It seems that the date to do this was in May, which was when
we acquired the property. I apologize for my ignorance of
the matter and would ask the Board for an extension of the
plat for a minimum of four months .
My reasoning is this : I am considering purchasing Lot 2 of
' Block 2 and subdividing the two acres into 4 square 1/2 acre
lots , with a road up the middle of the development . I 'm sure
you would agree that this plan would lend itself to a more
attractive situation and raise the value of the land and
homes thereon. Negotiating on Lot 2 , Block 2 has been
initiated and we ' ll need more time to agree upon a purchase
price .
