Two ofthe burglaries occurred while the homeowners were out of town. All three burglaries took place in the northwest section ofChanhassen (see map for incident locations). The City ofChanhassen and Carver County Sheriffs Office are asking residents to take the following measures to reduce their risk of burglary, and are encouraged to immediately report suspicious activity. Be sure to stop your mail and newspaper, or have someone pick it up daily. · When going on vacation, request to have trusted neighbors watch your home, and encourage them to immediately call 911 if they observe suspicious activity. · Document valuables by recording serial & model numbers, and take pictures of unique items such as jewelry and artwork. · Install deadbolt locks on all exterior doors, and keep them locked. · Keep overhead garage/side service doors locked when not in use. Open garage doors are easy targets and create temptation. · Whether parked inside the garage or in the driveway, keep vehicles locked and always remove valuables, especially items containing personal information such as purses/wallets, checkbooks, and laptop computers. · Close and lock basement and ground floor windows before leaving the house or retiring for the evening. The suspicious male was standing in the tree line along the walking path on the west side of Hwy 101. The suspicious male fled on foot when the reporting party's dogs began barking. The reporting party believes that over the past several months while walking at night, he has obselVed the same suspicious male at this location. The suspicious male is described as tall with a large build. The city ofChanhassen and the CalVer County Sheriff's Office are asking residents from this area to be watchful and immediately report similar or other suspicious activity hy dialing 911.
