The right-of-way for Lake Drive East is currently located through the center of what is proposed as Lot 1 , Block Ii , Chanhassen Lakes Business Park 2nd Addition. As part of the plat, Lake Drive East is being relocated to the north above the two wetland areas . The purpose of the realignment is to provide additional land for Lot 1, Block 1 which is the site for the I Rosemount facility. The city is currently in the process of having a feasibility study performed for Lake Drive East as pro- posed by the Chanhassen Lakes Business Park 2nd Addition. IRECOMMENDATION I Staff recommends approval of the partial vacation of Lake Drive East as shown on the plat stamped "Received September 22 , 1988" with the following conditions: r 1 . Final plat approval of Chanhassen Lakes Business Park 2nd Addition and recording of the plat with Carver County. I 2 . Provision of any utility, drainage or roadway easements as recommended by the feasibility study for improvements to Lake Drive East. IATTACHMENTS 1 . II Planning File No. 86-4 VACATION On October 10, 1988 , the City Council authorized a feasibility 1 study for the extension of Lake Drive East through the Chanhassen Lakes Business Park. The feasibility study will address the specific alignment for the right-of-way of Lake Drive East II through the Rosemount property. As a part of the platting of Chanhassen Lakes Business Park 2nd IIAddition, the City will be provided with the revised roadway easement for Lake Drive. It is therefore recommended that the City approve the vacation II request for a portion of Lake Drive through the Chanhassen Lakes Business Park 3rd Addition as shown on the attached map con- tingent on the applicant dedicating an 80-foot roadway easement II along the revised Lake Drive alignment as established by the City' s feasibility study for Lake Drive East. Fourteen ( 14) bids were received ranging from a low bid of $87 , 638. 75 to a high bid of 1 $119 , 765 . 93. The low bid was submitted by Machtemes Construction of Waconia, Minnesota. We have had numerous projects with this contractor and find their work to be satisfactory in all aspects IIfor projects similar in nature to this project . The engineer ' s estimate for this project was $98 , 000 . 00 . The low bid is approximately $ 11 , 000 . 00 below the estimate . I Reviewing the bids , we find very close competitive bids were received , all within or close to the estimate. Based on the number of bids received and the amount of the low bid submitted , I we recommend award of a contract in the amount of $87 ,638. 75 to Machtemes Construction .
