I SUBJ: Color Selection for Ground Storage Reservoir l " °
File No. 86-3
1 As Council may recall, plans and specifications for the water
tower were approved without settling on a paint color for the
I water tower surface. The reservoir structure is virtually
complete with the exception of testing, painting, and site
restoration, which will be done as soon as weather permits in the
spring.
II have attached the color charts furnished by the paint supplier
for the paint which we have specified for the tank. There are
I all sorts of creative alternatives available, however, I would
call the Council' s attention particularly to the colors labeled
with a graphic EN. These colors are supposedly environmental
naturals which are to be more in harmony with the environment and
I
mirror the colors found in the earth, vegetation and geological
formations that predominate various regions of North America.
I The Council had previously decided that a brown maple leaf should
be painted on the surface of the tank to identify it as
Chanhassen. If this is still the desire of the Council, perhaps
I the desert sands (AH52) would be an appropriate background choice
to paint the reservoir.
Also, as a reminder, we have budgeted for much needed inspection
I and repainting of our other two elevated water towers for 1988.
In my opinion, we should use the same color selected for
the ground storage reservoir for repainting of the two elevated
I tanks . Unless directed otherwise by the Council, staff will
proceed to notify our contractor, Hydro Storage, Inc. , to utilize
the desert sands color for the ground storage reservoir.
