Fire investigation: No fires to report.
Fire prevention/education: Final preparations are underway for the annual Fire Department
open house to be held on Sunday, October 12 from 1 to 4 pm. We are expecting approximately
800 attendees. The Fire Department will be offering:
• Fire truck rides
• A mockup of an actual stovetop kitchen fire
• Automobile extrication demo
• House of fire (kids spraying water from a fire hose)
• Displays from the Carver County Sheriff's Office and Carver County Sheriff's Posse
• Hennepin County Burn Unit
• Drawings for a ride in the aerial platform truck
• Free food and refreshments
• Ridgeview Paramedic ambulance
• Other vendors and public education booths /displays
We are also putting the final touches on Fire Prevention Week activities at the fire station. All
four elementary schools are scheduled to visit the fire station to learn various fire safety tips. It's
as much fun for the firefighters as it is for the kids. By the end of the week, approximately 1,100
kids will have visited the station. Additionally, firefighters will also be visiting a number of the
daycare centers in the city. The success of the program is due to the large number of firefighters
who volunteer for this worthwhile event, as well as a cadre of retired firefighters. Currently
approximately 30 personnel are scheduled to work the event.
Fire Inspections: Projects at various stages of completion include Powers Pointe
office /warehouse, K. Hovnanian Townhomes, B.I.G office /warehouse, Great Plains Mall,
Autobahn Motorplex, Bluff Creek Cottages, Next Steps Learning Center, Noodles, Smashburger,
Potbellies, and a number of smaller remodeling projects.
