We are at 247 calls as of June 12 compared to 275 at this same time last year. Fire Training: During the month of May, the Chanhassen Fire Department practiced structural firefighting at the South Metro Public Safety Training facility. The training involved responding to a simulated fire at a multi-story apartment complex which required search and rescue techniques, fire suppression, use of standpipes, vehicle placement and use of the Incident Command System. Also during May we conducted ladder and engine company training. The department also began new applicant testing to fill vacant positions. Fire Marshal: The only fire we responded to was a dumpster fire on Pipewood Lane. Fire Inspections: New construction: All current projects are moving along very well. LifeTime Fitness is slated to be completed in early July. We will be conducting fire alarm and fire sprinkler tests within the next few weeks. Park Nicollet Medical Clinic is close to being completed and is planning a July 5th final inspection day. Stone Creek Town Offices are at various stages of construction. Todd Gerhardt June 21, 2005 Page 2 There are approximately 5 units that are occupied and other buildings are close to being finished. The Goddard School is nearing completion with final inspections planned in the next few weeks. Restaurant inspections are going along well with just a few remaining. Fire Prevention: We are starting to receive requests for block parties in many of the neighborhoods. These visits by firefighters and fire trucks go over extremely well with the residents. Two weeks ago we assisted Clear Springs School in Minnetonka with their local science project. The kids and teachers loved it and were very grateful for our participation.
