Approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council. BACKGROUND This year's park and trail capital improvement budget contains $100,000 for the installation of covered shelters in three parks. This budget is split between concrete work in the amount of $35,687.50, which was approved by the City Council in September, with the remaining $57,168 being invested in the three shelters. The structures will serve as central gathering locations that provide shelter for organized activities and events and from inclement weather. The addition of these shelters will fill a void in the city's park and recreation infrastructure to help ensure that our park system remains a strong element in our mission to provide for today while planning for the future. The following quotes are for shelter structures including installation. Quotes Sent Total Cost Midwest Playscapes $57,168 Webber Recreational Design $83,495 Parkitecture $62,284 RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council award the contract to Midwest Playscapes. Funds for the project are included in the 2014 Capital Improvement Program. ATTACHMENTS 1. Quotes 2.
