Fire Marshall:
Fire investigaVo n: The department responded to two minor fires in October —a fire inside a
clothes dryer and a cooking fire confined to the oven.
Fire Prevention /Education: Fire prevention week activities are now complete. We are still
receiving occasional requests for fire station tours, visits to daycare centers and fire truck visits
to birthday parties.
Fire Inspections: Projects that are at various stages of planning, construction, completion
include Bluff Creek Senior Cottages, Great Plains Strip Mall, BIG warehouse located on Galpin
Court, Powers Pointe Warehouse, Dakota Retail, Southwest Villages Town Homes, K.
Hovnanian Town Homes, Dunn Brothers Coffee, Village Shoppes of Chanhassen, ABC
Millwork, National Guard, and a few small remodeling projects.
Burn permits: With the dry fall we are experiencing, conditions are high to very high risk for
grass, field fires, etc. The MnDNR website is checked daily for burn restrictions and fire hazard
ratings. We were holding burn permit requests until there was a significant snow fall. There
have been recent grass fires in nearby communities and holding burn permits will reduce the risk
within Chanhassen.
