WS 2015 01 10 CHANHASSEN CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION SPECIAL MEETING SUMMARY MINUTES SATURDAY, JANUARY 10, 2015, 8:30 A.M. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor-Elect Laufenburger, Councilman McDonald, Councilwoman-Elect Ryan, and Councilwoman Tjornhom. Councilman-Elect Campion was present through the use of video-conferencing. STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt, Greg Sticha, Chelsea Petersen, Kate Aanenson, Paul Oehme, Todd Hoffman, Richard Rice, Don Johnson, and Sgt. Peter Anderley. PUBLIC PRESENT: No public was present. REVIEW OF 2014 KEY FINANCIAL STRATEGIES: Todd Gerhardt presented a review of the 2014 Key Financial Strategies. 2014 accomplishments were highlighted. Break from 9:50 a.m. to 10 a.m. DISCUSS AND REVIEW THE PROPOSED 2015 KEY FINANCIAL STRATEGIES: The City Council and staff discussed the proposed list of 2015 Key Financial Strategies as presented. The City Council suggested that the following items be added to the list:  Emergency Preparedness: Tabletop discussion regarding the roles and responsibilities of City Council/staff as it relates to emergency management.  Athletic Field Use and Facility Expansion Study: Rather than having three separate strategies regarding athletic fields, it was combined into one study that will review: 1) whether artificial turf should be installed on Lake Ann Park and Bandimere Park Field #1 soccer fields to extend the season by 1-2 months; 2) a seasonal field house dome should be installed over the soccer field in Lake Ann Park creating an additional revenue source and adding indoor space for other community needs; 3) if more athletic fields are needed and where to locate them. The final 2015 Strategies will be discussed again at the January 12, 2015 work session. The City Council will then prioritize the strategies and consider the final list at the January 26, 2015 City Council meeting.
