Fire Investigations: No fires to report on This past week the Fire Department responded to 3
water flow alarms The one on Market Square is still under investigation. The other 2 alarms
were the result of furnaces not working. The first one the home is currently for sale. The
homeowners left the furnace on and had not checked the property for a few weeks The furnace
stopped working for an unknown reason, and pipes started to freeze and burst. In this case, the
fire sprinkler pipe split lengthwise and flooded the second and first floor. Domestic water lines
also suffered freeze up damage. This is a very common occurrence. The second water flow was a
foreclosure property. A company was hired to secure the property, i.e., shut off electric, domestic
water, and shut off the gas meter The result was a broken sprinkler line in the furnace room area
Fortunately, what helped minimize damage was a furnace room floor drain in the area. Nice ,lob
to the crews in assessing the situations and causing minimum/no collateral damage The property
owners were grateful for that
Fire Inspections: Inspections are scheduled for Lifetime Fitness and Emerson Processing
Projects that are currently under construction at various stages of completion include Powers
Point warehouse, Pioneer Senior Cottages, Smashburger, Potbellies, ATT phones, Southwest
Village Townhomes and a few others
