Compliance: All compliance mandates are complete for 2014 Fire Marshal: Fire Investigations: No fires to report on This past week the Fire Department responded to 3 water flow alarms The one on Market Square is still under investigation. The other 2 alarms were the result of furnaces not working. The first one the home is currently for sale. The homeowners left the furnace on and had not checked the property for a few weeks The furnace stopped working for an unknown reason, and pipes started to freeze and burst. In this case, the fire sprinkler pipe split lengthwise and flooded the second and first floor. Domestic water lines also suffered freeze up damage. This is a very common occurrence. The second water flow was a foreclosure property. A company was hired to secure the property, i.e., shut off electric, domestic water, and shut off the gas meter The result was a broken sprinkler line in the furnace room area Fortunately, what helped minimize damage was a furnace room floor drain in the area. Nice ,lob to the crews in assessing the situations and causing minimum/no collateral damage The property owners were grateful for that Fire Inspections: Inspections are scheduled for Lifetime Fitness and Emerson Processing Projects that are currently under construction at various stages of completion include Powers Point warehouse, Pioneer Senior Cottages, Smashburger, Potbellies, ATT phones, Southwest Village Townhomes and a few others Chanhassen Fire Department Calls By Month Comparison 80 70 61 60 60 56 57 50 49 50 50 46 40 41 40 37 30 20 10 0 11 1111 11 11 1 January February March April May J u 72 ne 62 62 54 49 50 51 45 46 43 44 ■ 2013 36 33 r 2014 July August September October November December 2014 621 Chanhassen Fire Department Total Calls by Year - 5 Year Table 700 650 645 600 550 573 U 559 4- 0 500 513 E Z 450 400 350 300 2010 2011 2012 2013 Years 2014 621 20 1s 16 14 12 10 6 4 2 0 Good Intent Call 20% 5 Fire Chanhassen Fire Calls by Type December 2014 10 S Rescue & Emergency Hazardous Condition Medical Service Service Call Alarms Fire Res /Comm 7% 14 Good Intent Call Chanhassen Fire Department 2014 Year to Date By Call Type Hazardous Condition 7% C', Alarm Calls i Emergency al Service 43%
