The Park and Recreation Commission would like to acknowledge the City Council for
helping lead the effort to complete the following projects last year:
1 Highway 101 South Pedestrian Underpass and Trail Improvements—The Highway 101
South project included a pedestrian underpass at Bandimere Community Park and extensive
trails and trail connections on both the east and west sides of the new highway These
improvements provide much sought-after pedestrian connectivity for both existing and future
residents
2 Pioneer Pass Neighborhood Park—Pioneer Pass Park opened in July of 2014 through the
assistance of dozens of neighborhood volunteers who constructed the park's two
playgrounds! Area neighbors love the new public facilities and spent the remainder of 2014
getting to know one another better through frequent visits to the park
3 Tennis Court Improvements including the construction of six Pickle Ball Courts -Five
tennis courts were resurfaced at City Center Park and Lake Ann Park Six new pickle ball
courts were constructed at the Chanhassen Recreation Center in the place of two sunken and
unusable tennis courts Many local tennis and pickle ball enthusiasts are thrilled with the
improved and expanded facilities
4. Neighborhood Park Picnic Shelter Initiative—Three of the new shelters are complete,
with three more under construction. Upon conclusion of the project in 2018, 13 new park
shelters will be in place?
In closing, the Park and Recreation Commission would like to acknowledge the City Council's
leadership in helping to guide the continued expansion and maintenance of the City's Park,
Recreation and Trail facilities
