Monthly Fire Marshal Report
Investigations.
A garage fire was reported at 3891 West 62nd Street on Wednesday,April rt at 3:01pm.The Fire
Department cleared the scene at 5 48pm A four car detached garage and contents were destroyed in
the fire. No vehicles were in the garage at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause
of the fire was the burning of household cardboard waste material The person thought the fire was out
and left the area The high winds that afternoon blew embers into a pile of lumber which spread to the
structure The building was a total loss.
On Friday,April 17th the Fire Department responded to a grass fire It was accidently started by a
homeowner who was unaware of burning requirements The same occurred at two grass fires on
Saturday,April 18th on Dartmouth Drive and Summerfield Drive In both instances the property owners
were informed of proper procedures for burning. There was no property damage at any of the grass
fires. On Thursday,April 30th the Fire Department responded to a car fire at the gas pumps at the BP
station located at Highway 5 and Century Blvd. The first Chief on scene used his fire vehicle to push the
burning car away from the pumps Additional responding fire vehicles extinguished the fire No injuries
were reported
