City Council approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council present. BACKGROUND Park & Recreation On February 24, 2014, the City Council approved a Joint Powers Agreement with Phone: 952.227.1120 Carver County and approved plans and specifications. For just the 4,100' long Minnesota River bridge, 408 piles are required. As Planning & the bridge piling work progressed, weaker than expected soils were encounter in one Natural Resources area. In this area the testing specified by MnDOT and used by the contractor was not Phone: 952.227.1130 Fax: 952.227.1110 adequate to determine if the resistance of the pile was met or if the pile needs to be driven deeper. MnDOT and the contractor completed a static load piling test to Public Works determine the right piling design for the area where weaker soils were encountered. 7901 Park Place This change in condition delayed the bridge project several months. However, in order to meet the proposed schedule to achieve the November completion date, temporarily extending workings hours will need to be considered. Senior Center Phone: 952.227.1125 Fax: 952.227.1110 The City of Chanhassen's normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no work on Website Sundays or legal holidays. The City of Shakopee's normal working hours are from www.ci.chanhassen.mn.us 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on weekends. It is important to have the same working hours for the project between the two communities. MnDOT and Carver County are requesting the working hours be extended Monday through Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. from July 28, 2015 to September 5, 2015. This extended time is needed mainly to drive the remaining piles for the Minnesota River Bridge. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Chanhassen City Council: 1. The temporary extended work hours will be as follows: Monday through Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. from July 28, 2015 to September 5, 2015 for the Highway 101 Minnesota River Crossing and CSAH 61 Improvements Project No. 13 -04. 2. The City reserves the right to change the working hours if it is deemed the best interest of the City. Passed and adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this 27h day of July, 2015.
