Obituary published in the Waconia Patriot on May 15, 1941 read:
Funeral services were held last week Tuesday for Alexander Bongard, 56, of
Eden Prairie, who died May 4 after a two-day illness with heart trouble. Services
were read by the Rev. S.T. Lenters at the Bongard home in Eden Prairie and
burial was in Chanhassen.
Mr. Bongard was born April 2, 1885, in Chanhassen, where his parents had a
homestead and has been farming the Eden Prairie property for the past 25 years.
He is survived by his widow, Mary; one son, Alex Jr.; three brothers, Henry
Bongard of South St. Paul, Hubert M. Bongard of Cologne, and Matt Bongard of
Hopkins; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Heuwiller of St. Paul and Miss Veronica Bongard
of Chicago; two half-brothers, William and Nick Bongard; and two grandsons.
Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased.
