Comments/History Mary Frances Olney Lyman's obituary was published in the Minneapolis Star
Tribune on April 25, 2005, and read as follows:
Lyman, Mary Frances Olney, age 95 of Spring Park died on Sunday, April 24,
2005. Born in Mena, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Missouri in
1930. She taught 6th grade in Missouri and Phoenix, Arizona. In 1934, she
married Dick Lyman. They farmed in the Chanhassen -Excelsior area on the farm
that was homesteaded by Dick's grandfather in the 1850's. After retirement they
traveled and spent winters in the south. Mary was a charter member of the
Excelsior Reading Club. She was a member of the Congregational Church of
Excelsior for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick;
and sister, Lucile Cason. She is survived by son, Richard (Martha) Lyman;
daughters, Jean (Howard) Meuwissen and Ann (Bryant) Hokeness; grandchildren
Amy, Mark, Andrew, John, Ben, Leah, and Laura; great-grandchildren Jakob,
Lucas, Solveig, and Colin.
Memorial Service in celebration of her life, Friday, April 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the
Congregational Church of Excelsior, 471 Third Street, Excelsior. The family will
receive friends prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the
Congregational Church of Excelsior or the donor's choice. Private inurnment at the
Chanhassen Pioneer Cemetery.
