Transportation of Deceased Persons in Baggage Cars To Railroad and Station Agents, Train Baggagemen and Express Agents: The laws of Minnesota passed in 1905, require all embalmers in the State of Minnesota to be licensed. Only licensed embalmers can ship bodies from point to point in Minnesota, or from any point in Minnesota to an out- side state. Only licensed embalmers are provided with shipping blanks by the Minnesota State Board of Health. These are yel- low blanks. Railways and express agents in Minnesotain-thereceiving of bodies for shipment must refuse the shipment unless accompanied by the proper shipping blanks signed by a licensed embalmer. You will in no case receive a corpse for transportation unless accompanied by a physician's or coroner's and board of health certificate, hlso an undertaker's certificate that the body has been prepared for burial and shipment in accordance with the rules of the State Board of Health, all on the proper blanks, nor will you receive it men asith such certificale if fluids or offensive odors are escaping from the case. A corpse will not be taken for transportation, except -by -"express," unless a passenger is in charge. A record must be made on the back of your station and trip reports of all -bodies -shipped and carried, giving name of deceased and destination _ - - It will be the duty of Agents and Baggage Agems to see that each burial case is properly marked on "Paster," giving date and at what station shipped, point of destination, state, number and form of ticket, name of passenger in charge and place of residence, with _name of Agent. If the corpse is destined to a point beyond the initial line, the initials of each road over which it passes must be written on the paster; also the terminal point of each road at which transfer is made with the connecting line, as shown on the coupons of the ticket. - You will see that the "Certificate of Undertaker" is properly filled put by him, and that the pasjer_is properly filled out by yourself and is securely fastened oll#Re'end of the coffin -box before it is put into the car, ane the permit remaining you will hand to the passen"r in charge of the corpse. -. The whale'tanw_umst he made in duplicate either with a pen,carbon paper or simplex paper, and the signature of the physician or coroner and undertaker -must be on both the original and duplicate copies. The underta_ker's certificate and paster of the Original will be detached from the physician's certificate and permit and fast- ened on the end of the coffin box. The physician's certificate and permit will be handed tothe passenger. The whole duplicate copy must be sent to, the General Baggage Agent of the initial road by first passenger train. ` All this information is necessary to insure the prompt and correct transportation of the corpse. Express shipments. When bodies are shipped by express the original transit permit shall be attached to and accompany the corpse waybill cover- ing the remains and shall be delivered with the body at the point of destination to the person to whom tate corpse is consigned. The whole duplicate copy shall be sent by the forwarding express agent to the secretary of the State Board of Health.
