Note from Carolyn Cheesman Parkes, 1979 to Elaine Cheesman:
Now what should I tell you about my parents, Rollin and Elizabeth! The were the kindest most loving people ever an
lived for their family. I think they met at the Hacketts [in Minneapolis, MN] where Rollin had charge of their high
stepping horses and drove the surry with the fringe on top when the Hacketts went out. Mother or Elizabeth was he
governess for the Hackett children. Rollin and Elizabeth were much loved by the Hacketts amd were part of the fami
every way. Rollin and Elizabeth had not had an opportunity for much schooling but no one would ever know it. Whei
and E fell in love, the Hacketts had a most beautiful wedding dress made for Elizabeth and gave them a beautiful
wedding. I have a picture of Elizabeth in her wedding gown. I don't remember of them telling me about their childhc
for which I am sorry. After Jessie, Harvey, and Ruth were bom, they moved to Pine Valley near San Diego Calif. to c
away from the cold weather in Minnesota. Rollin's brother Charlie came with them and they had a grocery store in P
Valley. After some years they moved to Vernon which was near L.A. later on Carrie Mary Cheesman was born. She
attended Monte Vista Grade School, Franklin High School and Occidental College.

more than 35 books, including
CHEESMAN FAMILY HERITAGE,
The CHEESMAN DOSSIER,

and The ILLUSTRATED GARDEN OF STONES
Cemetery Book series.
It's difficult to read many old burialstones,
depending on the style and technique of the
stone engraver, or simply depending on age,
wear and mother nature... an 8 might be
taken for a 3, or a 5 might be mistaken for a
3, among other numeral combinations. If I
am found to have misread a monument, let
me know and I will promptly correct it as
soon as I am able.
Except for the cemeteries that I've worked on
and have written about, my primary focus is
on Cheeseman - Cheesman - Chessman and
variations of the surname, people related and
associated to these families, and friends. Age
has slowed me down. But, I am certainly
always happy to hear from relatives and
friends, and will try to respond to inquries
when it is possible.
Thank you for your patience.

Nancy Chees(e)man Dossier
Grosshans Sir:
Would be interested in purchasing your revised "Chessman Dossier".
My name is Nancy Payne Grosshans and My ggrandfather was Rufus
Cheeseman 1822-1872 & Nanvy Fitch, who was the son of Abner
(1788-1873) & Nancy Ball,& he was the son of Anson SR.(1752-1813)
& Eliz Cary, who was the son of Edward B(1726-1776) & Margaret
Dyer, who was the son of Geo (1687-1760) & lane Duran.
From what I have gathered from other Chesseman relatives not much
was known about my gg grandfather. He is buried in the Pioneer
Cemetery in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The headstone is missing but
there is an indentation where the marker stood. Nxt to him is buried
Etta Mae Cheeseman who was the wife of Charles H son of Rufus. The
cemetery was complied years ago but the gentleman who transcribed
the work has the "Cluesman" when it says "Cheeseman.I was there in
2010 and took pictures of it myself. It has just been wrong all these
years. Rufus & Nancy Cheeseman ist daughter was Mary Emma & she
married my grandfather Samuel Biggerstaff. There daughter Blanche
Biggerstaff was my grandmother.

Jerry William Raymond Appleberry
Re: Your memorial for William Raymond Appleberry in Low Gap
Cemetery, Carroll County, MO.
There is a Missouri Death Certificate (#8831/8931) for "William R.
Appleberry" who is buried at Low Gap. According to the death
certificate, this person was born Nov. 16. 1844 in Carroll County, and
died April 25, 1910, in Fairfield Twp., Carroll County, MO.
His parents were William & Ailcey (Isom) Appleberry, and the
"informant" was "A. B. Nance".
Could the dates on your memorial be in error or is this a different
person?
Respectfully,
Jerry Stephens
