Page 1 of 1 StarTribune.com 0 Renter s REWARD' Eden Prairie 5th grader dies after collapsing Associated Press October 13, 2008 EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Counselors will be available for students at an Eden Prairie middle school after a fifth -grader collapsed while running and later died. Ten -year-old Joshua Damptey was jogging with the Oak Point Intermediate School run club Friday when he collapsed and later died in a hospital. Neighbor and family friend Brian Busch says Joshua was active but sometimes had trouble keeping up. Authorities are still trying to find out whether an underlying medical condition led to his death. His piano teacher, Luella DeBono, says he had a seizure a few weeks ago. Eden Prairie Superintendent Melissa Krull sends "heartfelt condolences to Joshua's family."
