Force as a firefighter.
Finance

Fax:952.227.1110 with a visit to the MN Fallen Firefighters Memorial in St. Paul. The academy is attended by
Bloomington, EP, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and St. Louis Park recruits and will go two nights a
Park&Recreation week through March.

Fire Department Response:
Recreation Center In August,the Chanhassen Fire Department responded to 54 calls for service. Duty crews
2310 Coulter Boulevard responded to 8 calls during scheduled shifts, bringing the YTD total to 69 duty crew

• (1) Building fires: A homeowner on Lake Lucy Rd experienced a small fire in the

Natural Resources basement workshop of the home and extinguished the fire prior to FD arrival.

Other Activities:
• On September 10th,volunteers from the Family of Christ Church assisted the fire department
with landscaping renovations at Station 1 in preparation for the project. We thank Jeanne
Aamot and the many volunteers for their help with this project. We would also like to thank
Beniek's Landscaping for their assistance.
• On September 12th,all firefighters participated with an annual comprehensive occupational
medical examination. These physicals are mandatory and screen for cardiac, pre-cancer,
respiratory,and hearing related issues.
• On September 12th, all Self Contained Breathing Apparatus units, including masks, underwent
annual testing. The vendor also performed mask fit testing on all firefighters.
• I assisted with the Minnesota Fallen Fighter Fighters Ceremony on September 25tH
• On September 16,Chanhassen Fire took delivery of a brand new Quick Attack Pumper. Engine
13 will be the primary vehicle used by duty crews while on shift due to its multi-purpose
capabilities,as well as,first out on all medical calls.The vehicle will spend some time at public
works for on boarding as fire department staff develop operational training on the vehicle. We
expect it to be fully operational sometime in October.

Fire Education :
Final plans are underway for our annual Fire Department Open House on October 16th and Fire
Prevention Week School visits to the fire station. During the week of October 10th-14th, approximately
800 students will be visiting from our four grade schools, as well as,from many of our day care centers.
This program started over 25 years ago and has been a huge success. Our firefighters volunteer their
time to teach Chanhassen children about fire safety and show them the station and equipment.
