PRC SUM 2016 10 25 CHANHASSEN PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING SUMMARY MINUTES OCTOBER 25, 2016 Chairman Kelly called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Cole Kelly, Steve Scharfenberg, Luke Thunberg, Jim Boettcher, Jennifer Hougham, and Lauren Dale MEMBERS ABSENT: Brent Carron, and Rick Echternacht STAFF PRESENT: Todd Hoffman, Park and Rec Director; and Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation Superintendent PUBLIC PRESENT: Eric Roloff 9413 River Rock Drive Marco Rasgattino 9141 River Rock Drive Jon Gilbert 1641 Jeurissen Lane APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Chairman Kelly approved the agenda as presented. nd PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS: Jerry Ruegemer invited commission members to the 32 th Annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 29 at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS: None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Boettcher moved, Thunberg seconded to approve the verbatim and summary Minutes of the Park and Recreation Commission meeting dated September 27, 2016 as presented. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0. CONCEPT PLAN REVIEW, AVIENDA REGIONAL/LIFESTYLE CENTER. Todd Hoffman presented the staff report on this item. Chairman Kelly opened the meeting for public comment. Eric Roloff, 9413 River Rock Drive South stated his main concern was with Miranda Way being used for emergency access. Jon Gilbert, 1641 Jeurissen Lane expressed concern with the woodlands, trails, housing density, how the AUAR process relates to planning and uses, and how the 2030 Comprehensive Plan is used. Marco Rasgattino, 9141 River Rock Drive emphasized the need for additional access to his neighborhood. Todd Hoffman reviewed the list of the Park and Recreation Commission’s concerns as a trail in the southern edge of the parcel, green spaces for people to gather around the housing, increased walkability, court yard type Park and Recreation Commission – October 25, 2016 features in the retail area, some type of nature trail configuration in the Bluff Creek Overlay District, trail connections, and that the commission would not support an amphitheater in this location since it already exists in City Center Park. 2016 PICNIC SHELTER RESERVATION PROGRAM EVALUATION. Jerry Ruegemer reviewed highlights from the picnic shelter evaluations. Todd Hoffman provided an update on the citizen survey, data collection and review schedule for the park system study. Thunberg moved, Boettcher seconded to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0. The Park and Recreation Commission meeting was adjourned.
