INVITATION TO CHANHASSEN DAY AT THE ARBORETUM, AUGUST 19 dtI I cordially invite all city residents to the second annual "Chanhassen Day" at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum on Friday, August 19. Arboretum admission will be free throughout the day for Chanhassen residents with valid identification, and the first 200 visitors will receive a free copy of the book, Chanhassen: A Centennial History and a special gift bag from the Arboretum! At 10:00 a.m. there will be a special welcome message from the Arboretum Director, Peter Olin, and complimentary coffee and doughnuts for visitors. At the event, residents can: . Explore 6 interactive bird exhibits from the "Wild About Birds" exhibition. Explore these one-of-a-kind exhibits at your own pace with a Visitor Guide and a free Discovery Guide for kids. . Take a free, guided walking tour of the Arboretum's most popular display gardens and part of the 'Wild About Birds' exhibit at 10:30 am. Hop aboard the Trumpet Creeper Tram for a motorized, guided tour of Three-Mile Drive and part of the "Wild About Birds" exhibit. Bring the family to the "Totally Terrific Trash" class held at noon. Carver County Environmental Services will wow you with fun facts arid interesting hands-on activities on topics ranging from recycling to composting to safety with household chemicals. Take a free, guided Birdwalk led by the Arboretum's naturalist, Matt Schuth, at 1:30 am Enter a free drawing to win a composter donated by Carver County Environmental Services. Stop by the "Art is for the Birds" family program and create a one-of-a-kind craft project from 2-4 pm. Chat with representatives from the Chanhassen's Environmental Commission and Park and Recreation Commission as well as city staff, Master Gardeners and Tree Care Advisors. . . . . . .
