Meuwissen, Office Manager t DATE: March 13, 2017 SUBJ: Request for On-Sale Beer and Wine License, Eric Liu dba Soya Sushi &Grill, 530 West 79th Street, Suite 120 PROPOSED MOTION: "The City Council approves the request for an on-sale beer and wine license from Eric Liu dba Soya Sushi &Grill, contingent upon receipt of a Certificate of Liquor Liability Insurance." Approval requires a simple majority vote of the city council. This office has received a request for an on-sale beer and wine license from Eric Liu dba Soya Sushi & Grill. This will be a new restaurant that will occupy approximately 3,173 square feet in the West 79th Street Center Building located at 530 West 79th Street, Suite 120. The menu will include sushi and Chinese cuisine. The restaurant will seat 59 and is anticipated to open in April, 2017. The applicant also plans to serve food and liquor on the adjacent outdoor patio space in the future. At the time of construction of the patio, the applicant will be required to comply with city code as it relates to construction(fencing) and liquor service. Law Enforcement conducted a background investigation, including criminal history, driving records, outstanding warrants, financial, and references on the applicant/operating manager, Mr. Eric Liu. No negative comments were found. A public hearing notice was published in the Chanhassen Villager and sent to all property owners within 500 feet of the site(see attached list). As of the date of this writing, staff has not received any comments from the public.
