Chanhassen Estates Residents Association (CERA)
Chanhassen Estates was the first major housing development south of highway 5.
In 1967 the first home was built in the first addition. Later in 1981, the final home
was built in the second addition. Though out the years Chanhassen Estates has
been a housing area with an active interest in the Chanhassen community. CERA
(Chanhassen Estates Residents Association) was started in approximately 1970 as
an organization to support and unite the neighborhood. Members of CERA paid
nominal dues that were used for Chanhassen Estates neighborhood activities, one
of which was the annual neighborhood picnic in Rice Marsh Lake Park.
The picnic was an exciting event for the children and adults. Every year the
Chanhassen Fire Department would send their engine to lead the neighborhood
parade which featured the children of Chan Estates on their decorated bicycles,
wagons, big wheels and other similar items. The fire engine would lead the
children throughout neighborhood and down to the park where the firemen would
greet and speak to the very excited children.
CERA members served through the years on various committees and
organizations within Chanhassen and neighboring areas. As Chanhassen Estates
has matured and changed from a new housing area to a mature neighborhood the
need for CERA dues has not been necessary. CERA has not been a functioning
organization for over ten years. Because of our deep appreciation, our
neighborhood and CERA would like thank all the men and women who have
served and currently are serving on the Chanhassen Fire Department. One of the
founding principles of CERA was to support and encourage Chanhassen. Since the
Chanhassen Fire Department has always been supportive of the neighborhood
activities CERAwould like to donate $672.50, the remaining funds in the treasury,
to the Chanhassen Fire Department for them to use to assist the department with
the purchasing of a thermal imaging camera.
