PROPOSED MOTION
"The City Council approves a resolution accepting a grant from Centerpoint Energy
in the amount of$2,500 to be used towards the purchase of a replacement Thermal
Imaging Camera"
Approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council.
BACKGROUND
Each year CenterPoint Energy provides opportunity for cities to apply for Community
Partnership Grants for a variety of eligible projects. Thermal Imaging Cameras are on the
approved list of items eligible for grant funding.
In May 2017, 1 submitted the grant application and was notified within weeks that we were
selected for the $2,500 grant award.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the Community Partnership Grant on behalf of
the fire department and approve the funds be directed towards the purchase of a replacement
thermal imaging camera. Total purchase price of approximately $6,800.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CHANHASSEN CITY COUNCIL hereby accepts a

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that city staff is hereby directed to prepare a letter of

CenterPoint Energy has awarded grants to cities served by the company through the Community Partnership Grant
Program.In 2017,the program will award grants for up to$2,500,giving priority to applications focusing on safety
equipment or safety-related projects.
Priority will be given to franchised cities that have not received a grant in the last year.
