A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A
110 -FOOT AERIAL APPARATUS FROM MACCQUEEN EMERGENCY GROUP
UTILIZING THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL PURCHASE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Fire Department's emergency response apparatus are a vital component to
their capabilities; and
WHEREAS, several factors require Fire Department response to include and aerial
apparatus including the presence of large industrial and manufacturing/processing facilities and
several multi -story, multi -family occupancies within the community; and
WHEREAS, a 110 -foot Aerial Apparatus will enhance both offensive and defensive fire
ground operations when responding to these type of occupancies; and
WHEREAS, the current aerial device, Ladder 11, is a 100 -foot platform ladder truck placed
in service in 1988; and
WHEREAS, the scheduled replacement of this vehicle is recommended by both NFPA and
APWA standards, as well as in the Springsted Fire Study report of 2013; and
WHEREAS, the purchase through MacQueen Emergency Group using the Houston -
Galveston Area Council procurement program in the amount of $1,028,208 includes a prepayment
incentive discount of $41,031, resulting in a net purchase price of $987,177. A Performance mond
in the amount of $2,777 is required to be paid by the city in order to protect the prepayment amount,
resulting in a final purchase price of $989,954; and
WHEREAS, the purchase price includes all current discounts and pricing for most of the
major components of the vehicle; however, due to the accelerated timing and the remaining
decisions with some interior cab configurations and cabinet space planning, staff is requesting an
"Authorized -to -Spend Amount" of $1,029,954.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council approve the
purchase of a 110 -foot Aerial Apparatus for the Chanhassen Fire Department from MacQueen
Emergency Group through the Houston -Galveston Area Council procurement program in the
"Authorized -to -Spend Amount" of $1,029,954.
Passed and adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this 27'' day of November, 2017.
